Chapter History

Rho Chapter was chartered on January 31, 1913 and is one of the oldest sororities on Hanover College's campus. In November of 1934, the first Phi Mu lodge was completed. In 1953, Hanover built housing for the sororities and Phi Mu moved into our present location on Sorority Court. On April 3, 1974, a tornado struck Hanover, doing $10,000,000 in damage. The Phi Mu house was among the destruction but later renovated. There have also been several renovations done to the house since, including an updated living room in 2013.

Recently, in 2013, Rho celebrated it's centennial by gathering hundreds of Rho alumna at a banquet on the beautiful Quad at Hanover College.

Rho members have served in many leadership roles for Phi Mu over the years. Most notably was Ada Martin Henry, who was initiated in 1937 and served as Phi Mu's National President from 1974-1978. In 2014, the current National President of Phi Mu Fraternity was elected: Beth Maxson Monnin is also a Rho alumna!
